3rd Annual 10K Run Raises nearly $11,000!

On September 12, runners, walkers and bikers enjoyed a beautiful day along the bike path in Lexington, MA. In addition to Cameron and Hayden’s parents and siblings and grandparents, over 60 friends joined us to sweat, commune, and compete for the prize trophy – a huge jar of sauerkraut! As anyone who attended can attest, the spirit of friendship, caring and community was remarkable. Following the race, people enjoyed the traditional game of "whooshers" and gobbled up 3 multiple-foot-long subs!

Defending his title of last year, Tim Lewis won the race and gratefully received the trophy. Tim also won for most funds raised by a participant. Raising $3000, 10-year old Bella Thorne-Lewis won for most funds raised by a minor!

We are delighted to report that as a result of people's generous sponsorship, the event raised nearly $11,000! In prior years, we have used the proceeds of this event to cover the Foundation’s operating expenses.  Given that we spend under $2000 annually, this year we will deploy the majority of the funds raised to support our mission.

A most special thanks goes to John and Nina Englander who founded this event 3 years ago and who have organized it every year at their home. Friends don't come any more wonderful than they! Their humor and generosity -- and lawn and bathroom -- are deeply deeply appreciated and cherished!
